International Women's Day Celebration
International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated globally on 8 March to commemorate the enduring fight for equality and liberation, while highlighting critical issues such as reproductive rights and the prevention of violence against women. At the ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), this day is observed in a grand manner, serving as a dedicated platform to honour the invaluable contributions of the women community to India's space programme.
I. Commemorating the "Grand Celebration" at IPRC
The festivities at IPRC are designed to foster a sense of empowerment and camaraderie among women employees. The celebrations include a diverse range of activities:
• Creative and Competitive Engagement: Various competitions are organised, including drawing and making competitions, alongside various "fun games" that encourage team spirit.
• Cultural Showcase: The event features vibrant cultural programmes that celebrate the diverse talents of the women workforce within the complex.
II. Holistic Empowerment and Health
Beyond festivities, IPRC prioritises the well-being and professional growth of its female staff:
• Health Awareness: Specialized women's health awareness talks are conducted by experts to address the specific medical and wellness needs of the workforce.
• Professional Alignment: The celebrations often reflect the annual United Nations themes.
• Symbolism of the Movement: In line with international tradition, the IPRC celebrations often incorporate the colours purple, representing justice and dignity, and green, representing hope.

III. A Legacy of Progress
While the global movement for women's rights began with labor strikes in the early 20th century, the modern celebration at IPRC reflects how far women have advanced in the field of high-technology. By observing IWD, IPRC reinforces the message that as long as one woman faces inequality, the mission for universal empowerment remains unfinished.
