World Space Event 2025 World Space Event 2024 World Space Event 2023
World Space Week (WSW) is an internationally celebrated event established by a United Nations resolution in 1999 to recognize the transformative role of space science and technology. Held annually from October 4 to 10, the week commemorates two historic milestones in space exploration:
October 4, 1957: Launch of Sputnik-1, the first human-made satellite.
October 10, 1967: Enforcement of the UN Treaty on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.
Coordinated globally by the United Nations in collaboration with the World Space Week Association and national partners, WSW is observed each year under a unique theme that guides the programs and activities. The theme for World Space Week 2025 is “Living in Space”, focusing on the challenges and advancements in sustaining human life beyond Earth.
This theme encourages organizations, educators, and enthusiasts worldwide to explore how humanity is preparing to live and thrive in extra-terrestrial environments — from space stations and lunar habitats to future missions to Mars and beyond.
At ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri, World Space Week is celebrated with great enthusiasm through a series of educational programs, exhibitions, and outreach events both within the campus and in surrounding communities. These initiatives aim to ignite curiosity, share knowledge, and inspire the next generation to dream beyond the horizon.
