National Space Day
National Space Day is celebrated annually on August 23rd to commemorate the historic landing of Chandrayaan-3 near the Moon’s south pole, a milestone that significantly advanced India’s position in space exploration. The ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC) utilizes this occasion to bridge the gap between complex rocket science and the classroom, fostering a national scientific temper.

Igniting Ambition through Direct Engagement
IPRC is deeply committed to encouraging students by creating widespread awareness of space technology and its societal applications. Central to this mission is a proactive outreach strategy where IPRC scientists visit schools and colleges to engage directly with the youth. These interactions are designed to transform abstract scientific concepts into tangible career paths, motivating students to join the workforce of the nation's prestigious space agency.

Focus on Government School Students
Recognising the importance of inclusive education, IPRC’s outreach events specifically target and cover Government school students. By bringing advanced space science to these institutions, IPRC ensures that students from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to participate in STEM activities and learning.Key highlights of this engagement include:
• Regional Science Meets: Scientists conduct intensive programmes in regional hubs such as Tirunelveli and Trichy to reach students across multiple districts.
• Competitive Learning: Quiz competitions for Government school students (Classes 8–11) challenge their knowledge of astronomy, mission history and satellite technology.
• Scientist-Student Interaction Panels: These sessions allow a panel of experts to share their personal research journeys and project insights, offering students a rare opportunity to ask questions and engage with the minds behind India's propulsion systems.

National Space Day 2025
"Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan" The theme for the 2025 celebrations, “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient Times to Today,” provided a framework for a two-day immersive experience:
• Day 1: Education and Guidance: Career guidance sessions were held at regional science centres providing insights into opportunities within space research and engineering.
• Day 2: First-hand Inspiration: Winners from various competitions were felicitated at the IPRC campus and taken on guided tours of key facilities. This experience allowed students to witness flight hardware such as crew modules and PS4 stages connecting their theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.

Impact and Vision
These outreach initiatives do more than just celebrate a mission; they nurture the future hopes of the country. By providing detailed visual narrations of missions like Chandrayaan-3—complete with mission footage and interviews—IPRC enhances the student's understanding and appreciation of India's scientific objectives.
