Swachh Bharat Mission

To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put focus on sanitation, the Prime Minister of India launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on 2nd October, 2014. The Mission is coordinated by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (MDWS).

SWACHHTA PAKHWADA (Feb 1st  to Feb 15th every year) 

  • Anti-plastic Plogging run.

  • Mass tree plantation.

  • To provide safe drinking water.

  • Awareness programmes for employees/ Contractual staff and schoolchildren.

  • Solar Power Plants for clean and green renewable energy.

  • Implementation of effective Solid waste and liquid waste management systems. 

  • Devoting towards Cleanliness – i.e. serving a 2 hours per week and 100 hrs per year

SWACHH HI SEWA - CLEANLINESS IS SERVICE (Sep 14th  to Oct 02nd every year)
A Campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission that aims to increase participation towards Swachhta and reinforce the concept of “Sanitation as everyone’s business”.

MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE SWACHH BHARAT MISSION: 
  • Bring about an improvement in the general quality of life by promoting cleanliness, hygiene and eliminating open defecation

  • To adopt sustainable sanitation practices and facilities through awareness creation and health education

  • Encourage cost effective and appropriate technologies for ecologically safe and sustainable sanitation

  • Sanitation systems focusing on scientific Solid & Liquid Waste Management systems for overall cleanliness.

The Major Swachhta Programmes observed in DOS / ISRO/ IPRC are Swachhta Pakhwada and Swachhta-Hi-Sewa.
